Stangl Station Brings more Fun and Food to Stangl Road

“We’re bringing more fun to Flemington, and to all of Hunterdon County,” said Rob Mortara, right, with his daughter, Allison, and brother Ren, the owners and developers of Stangl Station.

A new upscale food court and arcade will join the Lone Eagle Brewery on Stangl Road this spring.

“We’re bringing more fun to Flemington, and to all of Hunterdon County,” said Rob Mortara, owner with his brother, Ren, daughter, Allison, and Darryl Walls, of Hunterdon County-based Robin Hill Homes.

The second and third generation commercial and residential builders and property managers are erecting a 5,000-square-foot expansion for Lone Eagle Brewery’s internal use, along with a 10,000-square-foot space to house the food court and arcade.

The Mortaras said the future food court would be similar to the Stockton and Easton markets and the Bridge Street Market in New Hope, and might include a distillery. Plans call for construction of an arcade on a mezzanine above the food court, giving young people a place to play, and a stage on the food court level for local entertainment.

“Kids and teens are looking for something to do,” said Allison. “They’re looking for a place to have fun in Flemington.”

The food court is expected to seat 135 indoors, plus an additional 40 or so on an outdoor patio which will include a fireplace. The neighboring brewery seats 100 inside and also has patio seating. The Mortaras expect patrons of both the food court and brewery will eventually be able to order food by phone and through an app they plan to create, in addition to in person.

“We think it’s something that will work really well with the brewery next door,” Rob said.

“It’s going to be great for the community,” said Ren. “It’s (also) going to be great for the business community; more people coming to Flemington is good for everyone.”

Business and community leaders are excited about the project, including Flemington Community Partnership Executive Director Robin Lapdius. “We are thrilled that the Mortara family have continued to invest in Flemington. The success of businesses along Stangl Road from Stangl Factory to Lone Eagle Brewery to Platform One is an exciting growth story for Flemington. By mixing entertainment, restaurants, and retail, Stangl Road businesses have found a ‘sweet spot’ we expect to see more of throughout Flemington.”

“This is exactly the type of project Hunterdon needs more of and it’s being located exactly where it’s most needed, in the county seat,” added Marc Saluk, Director of Economic Development for Hunterdon County.
