Business Profile of the Week: Matt’s Red Rooster

Meet Matt McPherson, head chef and owner of @mattsredroostergrill, who will celebrate their 20th anniversary this holiday season! Upon entering this lovely restaurant, you are greeted with an exceptional atmosphere of warmth, inviting tables, and an open-faced kitchen, where you can watch Chef Matt and the team cook delicious meals on a wood-fired grill. “Our original and ongoing claim to fame is our grilled romaine – slightly charred and topped with a creamy dressing and grated aged parmesan. ” Matt’s Red Rooster offers a seasonal menu based on what’s currently available and fresh. Matt holds close relationships with small local farms, making a big difference in the quality of their stellar offerings. As a young chef, Matt McPherson worked all over the US, including Arizona, Florida, and New York City. However, growing up in Flemington, his dream was to open up his place, in his hometown, bringing an authentic farm-to-table restaurant to his community and neighbors. “When I found this property, it needed to be fully demoed and rehabbed. We began pulling apart the walls and found the original electric panel, from April 1907, signed by electrician John B McPherson – my great-grandfather. It was pretty cool to find that; I had no idea that my great-grandfather stepped foot in the same spot that I was currently building my own business; it was a good sign and good vibes that I had him watching over us.” The customers in Flemington flock to Matt’s Red Rooster for a cozy night out, and Matt loves that Flemington is on the rise for being a good destination town. “I want to see the town grow and prosper; I embrace more restaurants opening up and have high hopes for the future of our awesome town.” Matt’s Red Rooster Grill is open Wed- Sun and available for private parties, small to large. They offer the complete list of @Unionvillevineyards to enjoy with your meal, another local favorite.
